An interesting article from Packaging News on the move away from industry-standard polythene, derived from finite fossil fuels, for ones made from a sugarcane biopolymer known as GreenPE.
As well as being renewable, sugarcane captures and stores CO2 from the atmosphere as it grows, making it carbon-negative.
Avoiding the use of fossil fuel plastic material in favour of GreenPE bags further reduces the amount of CO2 emissions and preserves fossil resources.
